Obituary for Emily L. Curtis

Emily L. Curtis, 73, died on Thursday at St. Joseph’s Hospital after residing at Sunnyside Nursing Home for 14 years. Daughter of Peter and Lucille Schuyler, she was born in Syracuse on November 13, 1941. She graduated from Minoa High School and Central City Business Institute. Emily was active in the Minoa Chapter of Eastern Star and served as the District Deputy in 1978 and was also a 50 year member. She was Mother Advisor for the Rainbow Girls and served as the PTO President. She was also a member of the Minoa Methodist Church and a member of the Daughters of American Revolution, as well as Cub Scout Leader and a member of the Republican Party. Emily was always a great supporter of her husbands and children's many activities. She worked at McMahons Catering and enjoyed making birthday and wedding cakes.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years John S. Curtis; children Patti McCaffery, Bonnie (Steve) Palm and Robert (Sarah) Curtis; eight grandchildren, Sean and Seth McCaffery, Christopher and Stephanie Palm, Michael (Andrea) and Toni Marie Curtis and Meghan and Owen Callahan.
Calling hours will be from 4-7 pm Monday at R. H. Schepp & Son Minoa Chapel, 6530 Schepp’s Corners Road, Minoa. Services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday at Minoa First United Methodist Church, 246 East Avenue, Minoa. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memory Gardens, DeWitt.
