Marilyn G.  Walters
Marilyn (Butch) Guhl Walters, 92 left this life peacefully, at home and surrounded by family on January 31, 2016. Butch possessed an artist’s gift of being able to create with her hands what she saw in her mind. Her gifts included calligraphy, weaving, knitting, baking special birthday cakes, sewing elaborate costumes and ceramics.
She was active in her church, singing in the choir, playing bells in the bell choir, serving on council and many committees. She volunteered for FISH for over 40 years.
A 1945 graduate of SUNY Geneseo in elementary education, she taught in public and private schools for over 30 years.
She is survived by her children; Timothy (Carol Sasson) Guhl, Meralee (Mark Reitman) Guhl and Heidi Tsadilas; grandchildren, Brigitte and Matt Yamamoto, Hannah and Kate Reitman and Jake Tsadilas; many nieces and nephews and their families; her beloved dog, Patches and by her extended church family at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
Butch was predeceased by her husband, Reverend Howard F. Guhl, who conferred the name Butch on her when they met, and by her husband Frederick (Bud) Walters. She was also predeceased by her brother Loren and sister-in-law Caroline Fuller.
Calling hours will be at the Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 East Genesee St. Fayetteville, NY 13066 on Friday, February 19, 2016 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. A celebration of Butch’s life will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 7248 Highbridge Rd. Fayetteville, NY 13066 on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 2:00 PM.
Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
Butch walked humbly in the service of God and others all of her life. She is loved and remembered by those whose lives she touched.
