Obituary for Joseph G. Murphy

Joseph G. Murphy, 86, passed away peacefully at Francis House. Born in Brooklyn, he was the son of John and Florence Murphy. He lived in Fayetteville and Naples, FL. Joe was a US Army veteran of the Korean War, attended Fairleigh Dickinson University and was employed by Kraft / General Foods as Regional Sales Manager for 42 years.
Joe was very active at Immaculate Conception Church in Fayetteville. He served as the Head Usher for 40 years, Eucharistic Minister and Parish Advisor. He was an avid supporter and fan of Syracuse University Football and Basketball. Joe served on the Homeowners Association Board at Kimry Moor and Countryside Golf Club.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joan; his four sons, Tim (Sue), Kevin (Jean), Don (MaryAnn) and Mike (Kathy); seven grandchildren, Dan (Kelly), Kelly, Pat, Danielle, Matt, Kayla and Brian; sister-in-law, Vange; nephew, Jack; nieces, Diane and Patty; and numerous great nephews and great nieces.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 am Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Church, 400 Salt Springs St., Fayetteville. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Fayetteville.
