Obituary for Amelia A. Greiner

Amelia A. Greiner, 99, of Syracuse passed away peacefully on the bright sunny morning of October 5 surrounded by family and friends. Amelia received her Masters degree from Syracuse University. She had a long career as a real estate executive with Sutton Real Estate Co. in Syracuse. She was a lifelong communicant of All Saints Church, formerly St. Theresa’s. Amelia founded Home Aides of CNY and served on many charitable boards, including Aurora of CNY, Loretto Foundation, Community Foundation, Transitional Living Services and St. Thomas Moore. She served on the Onondaga County Infant Mortality Rate Study and on the NY State Board of Nursing. She was honored as Citizen of the Year in 1994 by Temple Adath Yeshurun. She was an equestrian into her 80’s, enjoyed knitting, quilting, cooking and entertaining for her family and friends, and was an avid reader and Bridge player.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert J. Greiner; daughter, Gail Perry; and two brothers, Lee & Al Mele.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert J. Greiner Jr. and Deborah of Cazenovia; grandchildren, Robert Greiner III (Kim) of Orchard Park, Celeste Greiner of Fayetteville, Daniel Greiner (Courtney) of Richmond, VA, Kristen Greiner of Stafford County, VA, Jana Owens (Josh) of West Virginia, Jamie Perry of Austin, TX and Brian Perry of Denver, CO; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Family and friends may call from 5-7 pm Friday at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am Saturday at All Saints Church 1340 Lancaster Ave., Syracuse. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in DeWitt.
