Condolence: Dr. Simson was a wonderful instructor, who loved working with and inspiring her students. For over twelve years, I worked with Dr. Simson and it was always a pleasure seeing her face light up when she spoke about either a powerful presentation that a student did in her class or an insightful paper that one of them wrote. She will be missed in the Department of African American Studies.

Rest in peace, Dr. Simson.

Condolence: I had the honor to work closely with Rennie in AAS as friend and colleague. We especially grew close during the past 8 months in the capacity of chair-interim chair.

As sad as her passing is, I know that her spirit survives in all who knew her.

Rennie,
Rest in Peace.

Condolence: She was an inspiration, a role-model and the grandmother I’ve never had. I will be forever grateful to have met Prof. Nana Simson. She will be sorely missed, but her friendship, her take on life and her good heart will stay.
Bonnie, Tom, Jami & Shani - my thoughts are with you.

Condolence: Though I knew Rennie in the SU AAS Dept. for less than 3 years, I was touched by her brilliant wit, her vast institutional memory, and her integrity as a human being. I will miss her mentorship and viewing her busy at work in the last door on the left in Sims Hall. I hope her dedication to generations of students and colleagues will be honored in a grand and noisy way.
