Obituary for John Cowell Pritchett

John C. Pritchett, 81, of Manlius, died on April 12, with his family by his side. Born in Schenectady, he was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. He served in the Army in a helicopter unit in Stuttgart, Germany. He then attended Syracuse University and graduated with a Bachelor degree in Industrial Design. He worked as a designer for Crouse Hinds and GE before starting his own company, Pritchett-Wilson Group, designing and manufacturing lighting.
John loved the outdoors, fishing, camping, boating and skiing. He played softball and volleyball into his 70s. He enjoyed his many friends at the Fayetteville YMCA and loved to make people laugh with his quick humor.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Lou (Schardt) Pritchett; two daughters, Marika Pritchett-Casey (Paul) and Suzanne Pritchett-Sidle; (Matthew); a granddaughter, Zazie Pritchett-Sidle; sister, Marjorie Tabechian of Rochester; brother, Donald Pritchett of Denver, CO; cousins, nieces and nephews whom he enjoyed.
He was predeceased by a sister, Carol Grobe of Brattleboro, Vermont.

Family and friends may call from 9:00 am to Noon on Tuesday, April 18th at Newell-Fay Manlius Chapel, 8171 Cazenovia Rd., Manlius. A service will follow at Noon.
