Obituary for Joseph Simonetta

Joseph  Simonetta
Joseph Simonetta, 81, of DeWitt passed away Monday evening, May 8th 2017.
Born in Syracuse on January 9th, 1936, he was the son of Agostino and Maria-Anunciata Simonetta. He was a 1954 graduate of Eastwood High School and a proud graduate of Syracuse University, Class of 1959. Joe served in the U.S. Air National Guard as an Airmen First Class from 1961 to 1964. He was a Pharmaceutical Representative and Clinical Conference Coordinator for more than 35 years for CIBA-Geigy.
Joe served as a Town of DeWitt Councilman for 21 years. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren, playing the piano, singing, and playing sports. He also loved spending summers at his home in Sackets Harbor.
He is predeceased by his parents; brothers, Dominick and twin brother, August Simonetta; sisters, Rosemary DeSantis and Elizabeth Wall.
Surviving is his beloved bride of 56 years, Joan; daughters, Karen (Brian) Karwowski, Lynn (Richard) Blair, Lisa (Stewart) Snyder and Joan (Scott) Spector; grandchildren, Anthony and Michael Filosi; Annette, Meghan, Seth and Elisabeth Blair; Michael, Garrett, and Alicia Snyder; Carly and Katelyn Spector; sisters, Marie Bartlett and Fay (Desadiro) Sidello; brother, Nicholas (Patricia) Simonetta; brothers-in-law, J. Edward (Barbara) Sero III and Frank DeSantis; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Friday May 12 from 1-3pm and 5-8pm at the Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee Street. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, May 13 at 9am at the Holy Cross Church, DeWitt. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt.
