Obituary for Cynthia P. Coursen

ASHES to ASHES….
Cynthia Papworth Coursen died peacefully June 9, 2017 on her 93rd birthday. Born in Syracuse in 1924 to Ethel Seabrook and Walter Papworth, she graduated from Nottingham High School in 1942 and from Syracuse University in 1946. She later earned Master’s degrees in Special Education and in Counseling from College of New Jersey and taught in the Bristol Township Schools for fourteen years. A devoted Episcopalian, she was a member of the St. Andrews Church in Yardley, PA and more recently St. Paul’s Cathedral and Trinity Episcopal Church in Syracuse. She loved writing prayers for special occasions.
Cindy’s many passions included music, sailing, skiing, gardening, and nurturing her family and her beloved dogs. Her creativity and artistic expression were evident in everything she did. In her later years she initiated sailboat racing and a book club for the Upper Saranac Lake community in the Adirondacks, where she spent summers with her husband.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Carl Coursen Sr.
Surviving are her four children, Richard Coursen Jr. (Rosanne), Christianne Moseson (Richard), Alexandra Coursen (Kevin), Susan Brahaney (Marc); and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on July 15 at 2:00 pm at Trinity Episcopal Church, 106 Chapel St., Fayetteville.
