Obituary for Leone Wright

Leone Gertrude “Lee” Wright, 78, of Jamesville, passed away on Saturday at The Nottingham. Born in Syracuse, Lee was the daughter of the late Otto and Gertrude Heizman. She was married for 52 years to Neal K. Wright, who survives her. She was graduated in 1956 from St. Anthony’s High School as valedictorian and proceeded to LeMoyne College where she attained Magna Cum Laude honors in 1960.

She retired from Niagara Mohawk where she was employed for 32 years as a management secretary. Following her retirement she helped her family as caregiver for her mother, an aunt and an uncle over a period of 20 years. She showed great courage fighting her battle with Parkinson’s disease for 6 years until it drained her ability to go on.

Lee’s aim in life was simply to be known as a “good person”. She was a lovable and happy woman, had great humility, a wry sense of humor, and great respect for the word of God. She enjoyed pitching in to help her husband and family.

She appreciated her daily walks, her water aerobics class, outside gardening, travel with her husband for 52 years, lunches with her girl friends and caring for her pet dog, Alfie.

In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by a sister, Janice (Paul) Phelps of Leesburg, FL; and two nephews, Paul (Peg) Phelps of Homer and James (Carol) Phelps of Clermont, FL.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday, July 5th at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, July 6th at 1:30 pm at St. Ann’s Church, 104 Academy St., Manlius. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Syracuse.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Ann’s Church, 104 Academy St., Manlius or Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, NY, NY 10018.
