Obituary for Michael W. Lamb

Michael W. Lamb, 79, of Minoa, passed away after a brief illness. Mike was born in Syracuse in 1938, the eldest of 3 children of the late John and Reba Ward Lamb. He is also predeceased by his first wife, Beverly Walters; son, Patrick Lamb; his 9 year old grandson, Julien Lamb; a sister, Marsha Adams and his brother, Richard Lamb. He graduated from East Syracuse High School and Mohawk Valley Technical College in Utica. His career spanned many decades in the manufacturing industry. He started as a designer with GE in Syracuse, and worked up to Manufacturing Engineering Manager at White-Sundstrand in Liverpool. He eventually retired from Eagle Comtronics as Senior Manufacturing Engineer in 2004. Mike has several patents to his credit from different companies.

Mike was predeceased by his wife and true love of 12 years, Patricia Walters Troast Lamb in 2013.

Michael is survived by his children, Wendie (Charles) Thompson of Ft. Myers, FL, William Lamb (Sarah) of Niagara Falls, Sharron (Tom) Mulherin of Liverpool, Michael Lamb of Niagara Falls, daughter-in-law, Lauren Lamb of Buffalo, Valerie (Jeff) Cicora of Baldwinsville, Audrey (Rudy) Burian of Brewerton, and Kelly (Gary) Way of Minoa; 13 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Mike loved to travel with his wife Pat. They had many world journeys that included Ireland, Romania, Canada, Bahamas, Caribbean cruises, Florida, Martha’s Vineyard and more. He and Pat loved their camp on the St. Lawrence River where they spent many summers. Mike loved cooking with Pat and sharing his love of life with everyone. Mike and Pat both retired in 2004 to spend time with their grandchildren. He was a covenant member of the Community Wesleyan Church in Kirkville where he was also the treasurer for many years. He was a past member of the East Syracuse Lions Club, member of Adirondack Mountain Club, and Onondaga Civil War Round Table. Mike had written several family genealogy books, a biography about the Civil War, a stage play and was an avid poet. He wrote a book of over 100 love poems for Pat as a ten year anniversary present. He also wrote many religious and secular poems.

Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville. A celebration of Mike’s life will be at 10:00 am on Friday at Community Wesleyan Church, 7691 Bridgeport Kirkville Rd., Kirkville. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Minoa.
