Doris T.  Salmonsen
Doris T. Salmonsen, 94 of Manlius passed away Friday evening, August 18, 2017 at her home.
Born in in Syracuse on May 18, 1923. She was the daughter of James and Anna Tobin. She was a graduate of Central Tech High School in Syracuse. She worked at the First Trust Bank in Syracuse until she was married to Carl E. Salmonsen in May of 1949. After raising her family she returned to work for the Fayetteville Manlius School District over seeing the payroll department.
Doris loved being with her family and grandchildren, No matter what the occasion was Doris always made it special for her family. She enjoyed golf, her splash of Manhattan and chocolate. Doris’s sense of style and elegance will be missed
She is predeceased by her husband Carl, son-in-law, Edward Shanahan, brother, William Tobin and Sister Gertrude Medcraf.
Surviving are her son Gerald (JoAnne) Salmonsen of East Syracuse, David (Joanne) Salmonsen of Olney, Maryland; two daughters Judith Shanahan of Lafayette and Tressa (Brad) Sobotka of Onondaga Hill; eight grandchildren, Jennifer (Mark) Roberts, Laura Bried, Katherine (Bill) Jaquin, Elizabeth Pizzuto, Patrick Shanahan, Mary, Anna and Emily Salmonsen; six great grandchildren, Benjamin and Megan Roberts, and Kathleen, Molly and Logan Pizzuto, Riley Jaquin; and several nieces and nephews
Calling hours will be Wednesday, August 23, from 5 to 7 pm at the Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 10am at Immaculate Conception, Fayetteville. Burial will be in Manlius Village Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the Manlius Volunteer Fire Company, PO Box 236, Manlius, NY 13104.
