Marjorie Helen Grewe Morris

Marjorie Helen Morris died 23 August 2017 in Manlius at age 97. She was born 24 May 1920 in Summit, New Jersey to Margaretha Kutschinski and Ernest August Grewe. She was the oldest of four sisters and one brother and grew up in Union, New Jersey.

She graduated from Union High School in 1938 and attended secretarial school at night while working as a bookkeeper for a local florist.

She married George A. Morris on 30 November 1940. They settled in Union and started their family. Robin was born in 1942 and Dana in 1944.

In 1947, George and Marjorie bought a large farm in Fabius, New York and proceeded to build a dairy herd. Marjorie helped build the farm into a successful operation while managing the household and raising the children. Three more children were added to the family: Patty in 1951, Michele in 1953, and Mark in 1957.

The family moved to California in 1958 and lived in Palo Alto and San Jose. George and Marjorie enjoyed weekend trips exploring California, fishing and picnics at the ocean, and taking enrichment classes at Foothill College.

Marjorie had an optimistic outlook and a gentle nature. She was a talented artist and did intricate needlework. She had a keen intellect. She was an excellent cook and baked blue-ribbon pies.

In April 1977, George and Marjorie returned to the farm in Fabius, planning to spend their retirement years there. George passed away a few months later in September 1977. Marjorie moved to Manlius in 1984 and shared her home with her daughter Michele and granddaughter Jamie.

Marjorie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She is predeceased by her husband George A. Morris who died in 1977, her daughter Robin White (Richard) who died in 1994 and her son Mark Morris who died in 1996. She is survived by her daughters, Dana Johnson (Clarence), Patricia Fargo (Larry), and Michele Stevens. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and ten great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am Tuesday, August 29 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 5070 North Eagle Village Road, Manlius. Interment will be in Fabius Evergreen Cemetery, Fabius.
