Obituary for Helen M. LaRose

Helen M. LaRose, 91, of East Syracuse passed away peacefully after a long illness. Born in Minoa, she graduated from Chittenango High School and CCBI. She worked as a secretary at Precision Die Casting in Fayetteville, where she met her husband Ray. They were married 58 years until his death in 2012. She also worked for 20 years in the East Syracuse-Minoa Schools as a cafeteria worker. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Minoa, an avid gardener, outstanding cook and enjoyed word search puzzles. She cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, John “Jack” LaRose of Camillus, Tom (Sue) LaRose of Chittenango and Sandy Goncalves of Camillus; six grandchildren, Jenny (Mike) Holdsworth, Rachel Goncalves, Bethany (Phil) Doupe, Leah (Caleb) Rupracht, Joanna Goncalves and Danielle LaRose; three great-grandchildren, Iris and Emma Doupe and Magnolia Holdsworth; her brother, Donald (Karen) Messinger; and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call from 5-8 pm Friday at the R.H. Schepp & Son Minoa Chapel, 6530 Schepp’s Corners Rd., Minoa. The funeral will be at 11:00 am Saturday at the First United Methodist Church of Minoa, 250 East Ave., Minoa. Burial will be in Pine Plains Cemetery in North Manlius.

The family thanks the staff of St. Joseph’s Hospital and Iroquois Nursing Home for their compassionate care.
