Robert J. Charette, Sr., 84 of Jamesville, passed away Thursday after a long illness, at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Syracuse, the son of the late Leo and Alice Charette. He founded Charette Brothers in 1968, and he worked there until his retirement in 1998.
His greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Robert’s interests were traveling, camping and gardening.
Robert is survived by his wife of 66 years, Nina; two daughters, Christine (Jim) Parlier of KS and Amy Hawksley of Camillus; two sons, Robert (Marta) Charette of Tucson and David (Jennifer) Charette of Jamesville; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from noon to 1:00 p.m. at St. Ann’s Church, 104 Academy St., Manlius. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow. Burial will be at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
