Obituary for Thomas F. Hennessey, Sr.

Thomas F. Hennessey, Sr. died November 11, 2017 surrounded by his family. Tom was born September 26, 1939 the son of John R. Hennessey and Anna (Gilson) Hennessey. Tom graduated from MVCC and served in the US Navy as a pilot.

He enjoyed golf, good wine and travel. His incredible sense of humor and dry wit was appreciated by all who knew him.

Tom was still working for Sabert Insulation until recently. He was a member of the Pastimes Athletic Club, the American Legion, the Updowntowners and was President of the 323 Club. Tom spent many years volunteering for the Catholic Youth Organization - CYO, Lourdes Camp and ESMFA.

Tom was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Richard Hennessey.

He is survived by his wife, Suzanne; his sister, Patricia Coolican (Richard); his children, Kelly Shanahan (Pat), Thomas F. Hennessey, Jr., David S. Hennessey, Megan Chambers (Stuart), and Steven Brandt (Kristin); and eleven grandchildren, Ryan, Caitlyn, Sara, Lauren, Taylor, Connor, Caden, Drew, Nash, Anders, and Sophie.

Family and friends may call from 2:00 to 6:00 pm on Friday, November 17th at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville, followed by a celebration of Tom’s life at Traditions at the Links, North Burdick St., East Syracuse.

Tom was an extraordinary man, loving husband and father who will be greatly missed by his wife, children, grandchildren and numerous friends.
