Obituary for William F. Patrick

William F. Patrick
William F. “Red” Patrick, 73, of Manlius, passed away suddenly November 30, 2017. Born in Syracuse to the late William A. and Helen McGinn Patrick, Bill graduated from the Most Holy Rosary School in 1962, and from Syracuse University in 1966, where he lettered in baseball. Five years later, he married the love of his life, his cherished wife of 46 years, the former Frances Timilione.

He was a Certified Public Accountant, his career culminating in 27 years as the comptroller at Syracuse University, retiring in 2007. In 1999, he was awarded the Chancellor’s Award for Distinguished Service. He also served his community during 5 years on the ESM school board and 4 more years on the F-M school board.

Bill loved all sports, especially those involving his beloved SU Orange. He was a very good basketball player, where he never saw a shot that he wouldn’t take. He was an avid reader, and could debate on any number of topics. He also was a classic rock music aficionado, and was especially fond of the Eagles. His passing will leave a tremendous void in the lives of his many friends and his family.

In addition to his wife, Frances, Red is survived by his children, Kara (Jack) Stauffer of Manlius and Bill (Kyle) Patrick of Fayetteville; his sister Marilyn Patrick of Syracuse; his brothers Robert Patrick of Batavia and John (Patty) Patrick of Fayetteville; his step-grandchildren Calvin, Gabrielle, and Mia Stauffer; and many wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins.

The Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at 10 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church, Manlius. Calling hours will be Tuesday, December 5, 2017 4pm-7pm, at the Newell-Fay Manlius Chapel, 8171 Cazenovia Rd, Manlius, NY 13104. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bill's name to the Crouse Auxiliary Lights of Love: www.crouse.org
