Obituary for Richard E. Vincent

Richard E. Vincent
“He was there when I needed him.”

Richard believed in hard work, taking care of those you love and the restorative powers of nature. He sought to bring out the best in others and had great respect for a job well done.

Richard was a proud union man. He worked for many years at the Oswego Port as part of the ILA and contributed to the Syracuse skyline through the Northeast Carpenters Union #12.

Born in Oswego, Richard always loved the water. He found freedom and adventure near the lake and taught his children to both respect and delight in its waves.

Richard is survived by his wife, Melanie Jivoff, his son, Jeff (Marisa Frank), daughter Kelly, and his grandson and best buddy, Roczen. Richard has many family members and friends who will continue to hold him close in their hearts to keep his memory alive.

A memorial gathering is planned for December 28,2017 from 4 to 8 pm at The Greenwood Bistro, 6475 Collamer Road , East Syracuse, 13057.

Contributions in his memory may be made to Cancer Research Institute (cancerresearch.org) or to the Natural Heritage Trust Fund for Green Lakes State Park.

“And in the end, it’s not the number of years in your life, but the life in your years” A. Lincoln
