Obituary for Helen L. Carris

Helen L. Carris, 79 of Auburn passed away Thursday, January 4th, 2018. She was born in Auburn, moved to Port Byron with her family as a child and returned to Auburn as an adult. Helen graduated from Port Byron Central High School Class of 1956. She is the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret Carris (Miskell).
Helen worked for insurance companies in Syracuse, Auburn School’s Board of Education and Auburn City Hall. She enjoyed her trips to Las Vegas with her sisters and had a great love of animals and golfing, a hobby she shared with her father.
Surviving are her two sisters—Margaret Muhlnickel of Cato, NY and Mary Frances Aubin of Simsbury, CT and seven nieces and nephews; ten great nieces and nephews and 13 great-great nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Charles (Dutch) Carris.
There will be no calling hours and burial will be in the early spring.
Memorial Contributions can be made in Helen’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Auburn SPCA.
