Obituary for Charles N. Seager Jr.

Charles N. Seager, Jr., 82, of Manlius, passed away on Thursday surrounded by his family. Born in Syracuse, Chuck lived in many places in Oswego County in his youth and moved to Erieville in 1949. In 1950 he moved to what is now the Critz Farm where he was raised by Mildred and Barney Fuggle. He settled in Manlius in 1963.
Chuck wore many hats and uniforms in his life. His first and most honored was the Marine Corp, serving during the Korean War. He was a postal employee for 33 years where he was affectionately known as “Big Sue”. After his retirement he started The Glad Farm and a venison processing business. Chuck was also a member of the F-M Rod and Gun Club, the Fenner Conservation Club, a Boy Scout leader for Troop 69 of Manlius, a little league coach and umpire, a bee keeper, and a fur buyer. His greatest love was volunteering for the Manlius Fire Department where he was a life member and had the privilege of being president, fire police captain and one of the first paramedics in Onondaga County.
His last greatest adventure was being part of Honor Flight 10.
Chuck loved to hunt and fish. He spent time camping on Wolf Island with his family and most recently at Cedar Valley in Morrisville. Chuck also loved spending time and working at Milin’s Dairy Farm in Cazenovia.
Chuck is predeceased by his mother, Annette; father, Charles N. Sr. and stepmother, Elsie; brothers, Bill Seager and Jimmy LaForty; sister, Mary Briggs; two granddaughters and one great-granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Anita Mills Seager; sister, Barb Kaeserman; sons, Chuck (Shelly) Seager, Mark (Diane) Seager and David (Chris) Seager; daughters, Chris (Harry) Adams and Deb (Ed) Tanguay; grandsons, Greg (Katie) Vandyke and Jake Seager; great-grandson Ryan Vandyke and great-granddaughter, Lyla Vandyke; step-grandsons, Christopher and Nick Janero and Alex, Adam and Mitch Manchester. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours are 4-7 Tuesday, January 23 at Newell-Fay Manlius Chapel, 8171 Cazenovia Road, Manlius.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 24 at 11:00 am at the Manlius Fire Department, 8200 Cazenovia Road, Manlius. Spring burial will be at Oran Cemetery.
