Condolence: We met Larry and Mary Ann in Florida at their southern abode. A very dear and respected couple. They both had a good sense of humor and were down to earth people who became very good friends. Our sincerest sympathies are with Mary Ann, Brenda and her family, and Tom and his family. My wife inherited his mother's treadle sewing machine and we enjoyed visiting them at Van Acres, a beautiful home and property which he loved to maintain and hunt on. He will be missed and lovingly remembered for the rest of our lives.

Condolence: I've known Larry since elementary school. We grew up on dairy farms not far from each other. We were in high school together and did all the same activities. We also went to the same college. After college, our paths split--his to further education and teaching, and mine to the military and then teaching.
Larry was always a great guy and a great friend. He was considerate, friendly, generous, easygoing, and had a super sense of humor. Anyone who knew him couldn't help but like him. His positive attitude throughout life was very commendable, especially during his last years. Thank you Mary Ann for taking such good care of him. Larry Van Druff was my best friend and will be greatly missed.

This is probably one of the hardest weeks we have to get through together. I feel so lucky to have known Larry. As we celebrate his life and that of Tony's this week, we will remember the good times and all the contributions they brought to this world. With love, Elaine

Condolence: Mary Ann we are so sorry to hear of Larry’s passing. I know I always enjoyed the times we got to spend together when I (Joanne) was able to get together with you guys and my sisters, both in N.Y and in Florida. Larry was such a unique, fun loving guy. Condolence: Mary Ann and family, we were so very saddened to learn of Larry's passing. He was one of my old Cornell buddies and we, as you know, kept in touch through the years. I do have so many wonderful memories of him and our visits with both of you, in NY,SC and here in NS. He was a fine man, a thoroughly enjoyable guy to keep company with and of course, a very knowledgeable biologist. He will always remain in our thoughts.
Please know that we send our deepest sympathies.

Condolence: Dr. VanDruff was one of our favorite profs at ESF. We had him for freshman Zoology and Birds and Mammals, and his favorite way to wind up a lesson was with a photo of the underside of the rear of a dabbling duck with the caption "The End". He was always available over the years to examine photos of birds we sent him, once a sharp-shinned hawk ripping the feathers off a tufted titmouse he'd caught at our feeder, another of an albino mockingbird we had around our place for a couple of summers. He was funny and kind and smart and generous with his time and knowledge. We will miss him terribly. Our sympathy and love to his family.

Condolence: Larry was my friend and colleague. We were often on the same graduate student committees. He was always an encourager and a teacher of high regard. His smile and humor brightened many a committee meeting.
When my wife Sue developed a 6th grade science unit on loons, Larry graciously served as her mentor.
We pray for the family at this difficult time and know that the legacy of Larry's life will continue to bless so many that he influenced.
