Obituary for Maria T. Engelbrecht

It is with deep regret and sorrow to announce the passing of our loving Maria at the tender age of 48. Maria was born in Cervinara, Italy, and moved with her family to Syracuse, NY in 1972. She has resided in East Syracuse for the past 25 years. She graduated from Henniger High School and Lemoyne College.

Maria owned and operated a successful independent business for 20 years.

Maria’s greatest gift of all was putting other people’s needs ahead of her own. She will truly be remembered by all for her loving acts of kindness that touched many hearts. Maria also was a communicant of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in East Syracuse.

Surviving are her loving husband and best friend of 25 years, Daniel Engelbrecht; daughters, Daniella and Marisa; parents, Alfonso and Veneranda Gallo; brother, Tony (Kassie) Gallo; sisters, Anna (Dominick) LaFace and Elvira (Chad) Terrinoni; along with many aunts, uncles, brother and sister in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins whom she loved deeply.

Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7 pm on Monday at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 am at St. Matthew’s Church, 229 W. Yates St., East Syracuse. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in DeWitt.

We wish to thank the Minoa EMTs and the staff in the MICU Unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
