Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Norma Porter can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for Norma A. Porter

Norma A.  Porter
Norma A. Porter, 97, of Minoa, died peacefully in her sleep. Norma was born in Fulton, graduated from Vocation High School in Syracuse. She worked at Syracuse University School of Education and then was the Principal’s secretary at the new East Syracuse-Minoa High School.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Minoa. She was active in the Minoa Golden Age Club and served on the founding Board of the CNY Association for the Hearing Impaired, prior to Aurora.

She was predeceased by her husband, Albert E. in 1993; infant son, Albert Jr.; her parents; and sister, Florence Edmunds.

She is survived by her children, Judith P. (John) Jarmacz of Minoa and Gary A. Porter of California; grandchildren, John (Maria) Jarmacz of Florida, Judi-Lynne (Gregory) Ott of East Syracuse and James (Heather) Jarmacz of Syracuse; nine great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and many friends and extended family.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday, February 28 at the First United Methodist Church of Minoa, 250 East Ave., Minoa. The service will follow the calling hours. Burial will be private in the Spring.
