Obituary for Irene Dufore French

Irene Dufore French, 79 of East Syracuse, passed away peacefully, into the Lord’s arms, with her loving husband and family by her side on Dec. 26, 2016. Born in Norwood, NY she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Iva (Christie) Dufore. Irene graduated from Norwood Norfolk Central High School.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Philip L. French; daughters, Alicia (Glen) Henry of Mayfield, NY and Deanna Kriesel of East Syracuse, NY; sons, Michael (Julie) of Brewerton, NY, Gregory (Davan) of Germantown, TN and Matthew (Karen) of Marcellus, NY; sister, Linda Brookes of Ollitic, IN; grandchildren, Jennifer French, Christie Wollschleger, Gregory French Jr., Mark French, Bethany Paolini, Elizabeth French, Deanna French, Justine Henry, Kelsey Henry, Emma Kriesel, Hanna Kriesel, Kendyll French and Sydney French; and great grandchildren, Tyler, Logan and Alyssa Wollschleger, Charlotte, Evelyn and Sarah French, Savannah Paolini and AJ Paolini. Several nieces, nephews and friends also survive her.
In addition to her parents sisters, Pearl Peacock, Betty Cheeseman and Maureen Gonyea and brothers, Amos, Gerald and Ronald Dufore predeceased her.
She enjoyed knitting Christmas stockings for her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing bingo with her dear friend Kathy.
The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the dedicated and compassionate staff of The Crossings Rehabilitation Unit for their endless determination and efforts over these past several months. In addition, the family thanks the Nurses and Aides of the North Wing at The Crossings for all their help, care and compassion during Irene’s final days. A most special thanks to Sheila, who’s loving touch, was extended to not only Irene, but to all her family during this difficult time.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Monday, January 2 at R.H. Schepp & Son Minoa Chapel, 6530 Schepp’s Corners Rd., Minoa. The funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Tuesday, January 3 at St. Matthew’s Church in East Syracuse. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in DeWitt.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Rehab Unit at The Crossings Nursing & Rehabilitation Centre, 217 East Ave., Minoa, NY 13116.
