Obituary for Kathy Considine

Kathy Considine was born to Frank and Helen LaBar in Rochester, NY on July 19, 1939, Kathy passed away on July 2, 2017 in Jamesville, NY.

A devoted wife and mother, Kathy spent the first part of her adult life as a homemaker, girl scout leader, hockey mom, homework assistant, and ardent supporter of her late husband Kevin and his successful accounting and banking career. In the early 1980s after her two children when off to college, Kathy finally found time for herself. She pursued a wide variety of interests including a career as a legal secretary and later, a relocation specialist in the real estate industry. She developed passions for golf, downhill and cross country skiing, her beloved Holy Cross Church, a wide circle of friends, family, and walking - always walking. Perhaps no one logged more miles or derived more enjoyment walking the roads of Dewitt, Jamesville and the beautiful Green Lakes State Park.

What unified the different parts of Kathy’s life was devotion to family and service to friends and causes she believed in. Assisting the elderly was a consistent theme in her life - caring for her parents in their later years, assisting numerous other elderly relatives and friends when they needed her most, faithful service on the boards of The Francis House Auxiliary, Meals on Wheels and many other civic organizations in both the Syracuse and Rochester areas.

Kathy courageously and successfully beat breast cancer in 2004 which provided her 12 wonderful years to enjoy her relationship with granddaughter, namesake, and light of her life, Emily Katherine Considine. Unfortunately, she lost round two with cancer, passing away peacefully in her home this past Sunday. She is survived by her son Tim (Elisa) and granddaughter Emily of Philadelphia, daughter Joan (Frank Cali) of Brooklyn, devoted sister Linda Lembke of Plano, TX, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews in cities across the country.

A memorial service honoring Kathy’s life will be held on July 5, 2017 at 11:00am at Holy Cross Church in Dewitt NY.

In lieu of flowers, those who are so inclined might consider a donation to The American Cancer Society or Holy Cross Church of Dewitt, NY.
