The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.

My sympathy for your loss. Miss Clement was my first ballet teacher at American Ballet Theatre in the Level B class. She would come in with her leotard and matching skirt (the baby blue color mostly - maybe because that was the leotard color for the class) and was always very serious. From my child's point of view I remember the barre work was long, the center part short but....she always gave something fun moving across the floor and I always left her class on a high note. They day I learned the Makurka step was memorable indeed. I carry her legacy by making sure all my lower level classes leave on a high note too by giving them something freeing and fun across the floor. She pushed for me to have the "Pink Girl" costume in ABT's Petrushka one year and I got to perform at the Met! Year later I cought up with her while she taught at the 92nd Street Y and I was fortunate enough to have some chats with her as an adult. I treasure those classes I had with her and know I was very fortunate.
