Obituary for Marvin G. Ricker

Marvin G. Ricker, of Manlius, NY succumbed to a long fight with Alzheimer’s disease on July 12th. Marvin (fondly known as Rick) was from Addison, NY, where he attended school and became a well-known athlete. In August of 1944 he became a Navy Gunners Mate 3rd Class and was assigned to the U.S.S. Osage. Upon returning home, he entered Syracuse University, Class of 1950, and was a member of Phi Delta Gamma. As part of S.U. Alumni he participated in mentoring his fraternity and was a member of the Syracuse Orange Pack. He and his wife Jean (Holt) Ricker settled in the Fayetteville-Manlius, he was employed by Gateway Equipment of East Syracuse, NY, as Sales Manager. Marvin was a long time member of the Calvary Club in Manlius, NY where he thoroughly enjoyed the game of golf. He passed down the gift of athletics to his children with great enjoyment.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; his daughter, Leslie (Ricker) Hall and her son, Evan Ricker; son, Gregory Ricker and his sons, Theodore and Maximillian Ricker; niece, Kathleen (Moshier) England (husband Robert); and step-sons, Brett Smith, Mark Smith and Collier Smith.
He will be cremated and a graveside ceremony will be held at the family plot in Addison Rural Cemetery on August 30th at 10:00 am.
