Obituary for Andrea Barrett-Kelley

Andrea “Didi” Barrett-Kelley, 72, of Fayetteville, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2020.

She grew up in Garden City, Long Island and graduated from Hall High School in West Hartford, Connecticut, Class of 1965, and then attended college in Boston.

Andrea lived in Greenwich Village while working in Manhattan and in 1980 moved to Syracuse, taking a position with NYNEX Communications.

She married J. Kevin Kelley on April 17,1983. Andrea, Kevin and Robert McDonough started Saratoga Steaks that same year. In 2003 The Dark Horse Tavern was created and she was an integral participant in both restaurants.

She became the proud, devoted mother of Amy, born December 3, 1994. Didi was a beautiful caring person who loved life, family and friends and touched the lives of all who knew her.

Over the last 10 years she volunteered at MLK and the SU Center for International Services.

Her family and friends wish to extend their deep appreciation to the many health professionals within our community and beyond who provided her with exceptional care.

She is predeceased by her parents, Justine Barclay and Gilbert C. Barrett, Jr. and her niece, Justine Rothblat.

Surviving are her husband of 37 years, J. Kevin Kelley; daughter, Amy Kelley of Atlanta; sister, Leslie (Larry) Barrett-Rothblat of Washington, DC; brothers-in-law, Scott (Jonelle) Kelley and Robert (Sue) Kelley; nieces, Emily Baskin, Anna Kelley, & Ava Kelley; and nephews, Jason Rothblat, Ryan Kelley & Shane Kelley.

Family and friends may call on Saturday, March 14 from 3 to 5 pm at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 East Genesee Street, Fayetteville. A memorial service will follow at the funeral home at 5 pm.
