Obituary for Ann Ferrarone Read

Ann Ferrarone Read, 49, died unexpectedly Sept. 17 at her home in DeWitt. A fierce advocate for women, senior citizens and her family, she was known and loved by many for her kindness, compassion and wit.

Ann worked in regional theater during her college years at the University of Maine. After graduating she worked in the relocation industry and was a longtime volunteer domestic violence counselor with the Women’s Center in Danbury, Conn., her hometown. She moved to DeWitt after marrying her husband, Jim, in 2006. They had many adventures as a couple and as a family. She became a confidant and problem-solver for his children.

In Central New York, she worked as a domestic violence counselor with Oswego County Opportunities. She later became an information specialist with the Onondaga County Office for the Aging. At the time of her death she was director of digital marketing and special projects for VividCloud, a Maine software company.

Ann is also survived by Frank (Aida) Read, Marget (John) Rhode, Meredith (Chris) Burrows, Mallory Read; grandchildren Christopher, Evan, Mark, Elliot, Sienna and Charlotte, her brother, Charles (Janine) Ferrarone and their children, Alyssa and Matthew; aunts, uncles, cousins and her 107-year-old grandmother, Delia Ferrarone, still living in her home in Danbury.

There are no services or calling hours. A celebration of her life is planned and detail will be shared with friends on social media.
