Obituary for Arlene J. Cummings

Arlene Johnson Cummings, 96, of Fayetteville passed away peacefully Monday. Arlene was born in Bancroft, Iowa and graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1941. She resided in Fremont/East Syracuse for 58 years before moving to Fayetteville.

She was formerly employed by NY Telephone, McMillan Book Company, Niagara Mohawk, and New York State Fair-Art & Home Center, Arts & Craft Room. She spent many years volunteering with the Girl Scouts of CNY and St. Matthew’s Mother’s Club.

She is predeceased by her husband, William F. in 1984; and sisters, G. Alice Campbell, Mary Jane “Mimi” Roberts and Rose E. Hall.

She is survived by her children, Stephen (Leslie) of Camillus, Richard (Susan) of Liverpool, Jonathan (Janet) of Yorktown Heights and Kathleen (Thomas) Yacovino of Normal, IL; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Lenore (William) Ryder of Jamesville; cousin, Marena Erdogan of New York City; many nieces and nephews, including Jennifer Crittenden; and good friend, Jodelle Fletcher.

The family is thankful for the devotion and loving care by Allison Taylor and Jen Taylor.

Family and friends may call from 9 to 11 am on Friday at St. Matthew’s Church, Kinne St., East Syracuse. The funeral Mass will follow the calling hours at 11am. Burial will be in Collamer Cemetery.
