Obituary for Barbara J. Craner

Barbara J. Craner (McCorry), 84, passed away on June 14, 2019 with her family be her side. She was born to the late Mabel and Charles McCorry on June 12, 1935. She graduated from Onondaga Valley Academy in 1953. She married Byron N. Craner on November 21, 1957 at St. Michael’s Church. They were happily married for 56 years.

Barbara and Byron were a part of Cursillo and the settlement of refugees through Trinity Episcopal Church in Fayetteville for many years. She worked beside her husband Byron at Craner Tractor for 25 years. She worked at Fayetteville Free Library for over 20 tears until she retired in 2014. She was a loving mother, daughter, grandmother who cherished her family and friends. She loved to take part in her grandchildren’s lives going to cheer them on at basketball, baseball and lacrosse games and enjoying their musical styling as well.

Barbara is survived by her two sons, Jeff and John (Sandy); her daughter-in-law, Kristen; her sisters, Carole Wilhelm (Fred) and Helen McCorry. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Nicholas, Luke, Finn, Aidan, Zander, Austin and Lorelie.

She was predeceased by her husband Byron; her brothers, Chuck and Mac; her sister, Marilyn and her sons, Mark and Byron Jr. and daughter-in-law, Lisa.

A memorial; service will be held on Wednesday, July 3rd at 5:00 pm at Trinity Episcopal Church in Fayetteville. A reception to follow in the Great Hall for all family and friends to share memories and reminisce about the wonderful life that was shared with Barbara Jean Craner.
