Obituary

Becky (Baker) Morrow, 60, of Fayetteville died peacefully on December 11 at Francis House in Syracuse. Becky battled ovarian cancer for 10 years and ultimately succumbed to the disease.

Family and friends may call from 3-5 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville. The service will follow the calling hours.

She is survived by her husband, Kevin Morrow; son, Brian Stevens; grandson, Zachary Stevens; brother, Scott Baker; brother-in-laws, Paul Stewart and Robin Morrow; and sisters-in-law, Ceil Baker, Julie Baker, Robin Sam Rosenthal, Sheryl Morrow and Sharon Morrow; nieces, Jessica Baker, Annaliese Stautner and Heather Stewart; nephews, Jason Stewart and Brandon Stautner; great nephew, Jacob Stewart; and many cherished cousins.

She is predeceased by her father, Neil Baker Jr.; mother, Shirley (Bell) Baker; sister, Joyce (Baker) Stewart; and brother, Dean Baker.

Becky was born in Syracuse and graduated from West Genesee High School and Syracuse University. She worked for more than 25 years at National Grid (née Niagara Mohawk Corp.).

She loved her family and friends very much.

She had an infectious smile and a huge, generous heart.

Becky was a talented musician. She played flute in the West Genesee Marching Band and was a member of when the band won a national title. She also enjoyed piano and sang (soprano) in church choirs and in the local group the Bernie Schmidt Singers, known for their community performances and for many years for their appearances on an annual holiday special hosted by legendary Syracuse journalist Ron Curtis and airing on WTVH-TV (Channel 5).

She loved to knit, taught by her Uncle Vic, and made many beautiful creations.

She collected teddy bears and Jim Shore figures and angels.

She loved garage sales.

She was a voracious reader (favorite authors James Patterson, Janet Evanovich, Mary Higgins Clark and Karin Slaughter, among others).

She loved snuggling on the couch with her husband at night watching TV: many popular series, Hallmark Mystery Movies and cartoons (Scooby-Doo was her all-time favorite character).

She enjoyed attending her grandson’s youth hockey games and getting together as often as she could with friends.

She touched so many lives, and so many people will miss her.
