Obituary for Carolyn S. Allen

Carolyn S. Allen, 86, of Fayetteville, a longtime nurse, died on Nurses’ Day. She was born in Rome, the daughter of Frank and Carolyn Sheldon. She grew up in Sherburne and graduated from Crouse-Irving School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse 45 years at both Crouse-Irving Memorial Hospital and the Syracuse City School District.

She enjoyed knitting, gardening and most of all loved her family. She was a 60 year member of DeWitt Community Church and loved the Cut-Ups and the Suburban Shop.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Kenneth D. Allen; their cherished dog, Penny; children, Karen Failoni of Syracuse, Christopher (Linda) of Liverpool and Susan (Bob) Allen-Eighmey of Minoa; five grandchildren, Christopher Eighmey, Alyssa Eighmey, Michael Failoni, Leigha Allen and Christie Allen; and a great-granddaughter, Emma Eighmey. She was predeceased by her brother, Francis Sheldon and son-in-law, Mark D. Failoni.

A memorial service will be held at DeWitt Community Church at a later date.
