Daniel F. Shelly, 80, of East Syracuse, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. He was born in Syracuse, the son of the late John and Anna Shelly. Daniel grew up on the West side of Syracuse, graduated from Central High School, and later attended Paul Smith College.

     He proudly served in the United States Air Force and, after, he worked for UPS and NAPA Auto Parts until his retirement in 2003.

     Daniel enjoyed tinkering with sports cars, watching the Yankees, playing catch, and the joy of traveling with friends and family.

     Surviving are his cherished wife of 56 years, Barbara Shelly; daughter, Robin (Eric) Summers; grandchildren, William and Daniel Summers; sisters, Carol (Joseph) Warren, Marlene (Kenneth) Buzzard; and his much loved nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son, Scott Shelly and his niece, Sheila Warren.

     A graveside service will be held in the spring.
