Obituary

Donna Tina (Monti) Relihan of East Syracuse passed away on September 17, 2019, at the age of 77. She was born on March 13, 1942, in Jacksonville, Florida to Daniel J. Sr. and Bernice Monti. Donna considered herself an army brat due to their extensive early travels from Germany to Japan. Once settled in the United States, Donna attended and graduated from the East Syracuse School District. She married Brian Relihan and raised two daughters. She was a homemaker and worked in retail. She enjoyed bowling, softball and golf with her girlfriends. Her true passion, however, was cooking. Donna went into business with her brother operating the “infamous” Sing-A-Long Saloon. Later she opened her own business, Donna’s Pantry, and catered many special events. Prior to her retiring, Donna worked for Dr. Novak’s podiatry practice where the patients adored her compassionate care. During retirement, Donna loved to decorate her home and tend to her beautiful gardens. She enjoyed hosting many family events. Her door was always open, a good meal was offered, and she always had a place for anyone who needed it. She will be remembered for her style, love of family and friends, and her beautiful smile.

She is survived by her two daughters Colleen Argus (Larry) and Denise Hughes (Richard), her brother Daniel J. Monti (Fran), seven grandchildren William Landry (Elizabeth), Brian Landry (Jamie), Shane Argus, Nathan Hughes (Taillear), Benjamin Hughes, Allison Hughes, and Aaron Hughes and five great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.

Donna was sweet and loving until her final days at Crouse Community Center in Morrisville, NY.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 pm on Friday, September 20 at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville. A service will be held at St. Matthew’s Church in East Syracuse at 11 am on Saturday, September 21. Burial will directly follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in DeWitt.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Food Bank of Central New York, 7066 Interstate Island Rd., Syracuse, NY 13209.
