Obituary for Doris C. Spinoso

On October 11, 2020 our beloved Doris C. Spinoso, “Mama”, passed away just shy of her 96th birthday.

She was born on October 20, 1924 to Louis and Sophie Gagné of Pembroke, Ontario, Canada. She was 1 of 13 children. In 1945, she moved to Syracuse, NY to work for her cousin. While living in Syracuse she met her husband, Michael, and together they raised their 4 children.

Prior to her husband’s death on November 3, 2002, they enjoyed traveling across country and camping in Canada with family. They attended many wonderful Marine reunions - their most memorable one taking place in Hawaii.

Doris was proud of her Canadian heritage but also equally as proud to be a citizen of the United States of America. She was an avid NY Yankee fan and enjoyed watching hockey as well. She had a wonderful sense of humor and so cherished time spent with her family.

Doris is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Annette and Terry Putnam; sister-in-law, Kate Spinoso; son-in-laws, Rob Trask and Peter Gade; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, and a dear friend, Mary Ann, who was like a daugther to her.

In addition to being predeceased by her husband, Michael, she is also predeceased by her daughters, Karen Fletcher, Michele Trask; son, Michael Spinoso, Jr.; and son-in-law, Robert Fletcher.

Calling hours will be Monday, October 26 from 4:00 to 5:30 pm at St. Augustine’s Church, 7333 O’Brien Rd., Baldwinsville. A Funeral Mass will immediate follow at 5:30 pm. Masks and social distancing are required. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Food Bank of CNY, 7066 Interstate Island Road
