Obituary for Edward G. Mapstone

 

     Edward G. Mapstone, 84, of Manlius, passed away on his 65th wedding anniversary.  Ed graduated from Fabius High School and worked on the Bryan Farm as a teenager.  After graduation he worked for Morgan Badgley as a master electrician until 1980.  He then started his own electrical and heating business in 1981, Ed Mapstone & Son, and continued working for the next 20 years.

     He was a member of the F-M Rotary Club and volunteered for Meals on Wheels.  He loved attending auctions and working on anything with a motor, from tractors to old cars and trucks.

     Ed is survived by his wife of 65 years, Alma Rosenberg Mapstone; children, Deborah J. (Rickey) Cooley, Joseph (Diana) Mapstone; daughter-in-law, Deborah Mapstone; grandchildren, Christina (Shawn) Doupe, Matt (Traci) Cooley, Jonathan (Erin)Mapstone, Jackie Mapstone and Andrew (Meghan) Mapstone; six great-grandchildren, Tyler and Carter Doupe, Henry and Sam Mapstone, and Lucas and Brayton Cooley; a sister, Patricia O’Neill; and several nieces and nephews.

     He was predeceased by his son, Douglas Mapstone; his grandson, Jacob Mapstone; four brothers and a sister.

     Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, November 26 at Newell-Fay Manlius Chapel, 8171 Cazenovia Rd., Manlius.  The funeral will be 10:00 am on Saturday, November 27 at the United Methodist Church of Manlius.  Burial will be in Manlius Village Cemetery.
