Growing up on a farm near Honesdale, Pennsylvania, she went on to study secretarial work at the Powell School of Business which she later used in her work at Firestone and The American Cancer Society. Frank and Ethel married in 1944. After his discharge from Army in 1947, Frank and Ethel moved to Geneva and then onto Potsdam where Frank finished his engineering degree. In 1950 they moved their family to Syracuse, NY where Ethel has lived ever since. She was heavily involved in the Cub Scouts when her boys were young, at a time when this was “men’s work” or so they thought! Ethel was an active member in her church, Minoa United Methodist, for many years. She played the piano beautifully and was a wonderful cook! She enjoyed playing bridge, sewing, and working in her garden. Ethel especially loved spending her summers at Tuscarora Lake with her family, creating memories her grandchildren and great grandchildren will cherish forever. Ethel was a friend to many, always generous with her time and talents. She was loved beyond measure and will be greatly missed.
