Obituary for Evelyn D. Fix
Evelyn D. Fix, 101, of Manlius, passed away peacefully Tuesday. She was born in Syracuse the daughter of the late Charles and Magdeline Dineen. She was a graduate of St. Anthony of Padua High School in Syracuse. Evelyn married John in 1942 and over their 53 years of marriage they raised five children. She worked for the Syracuse City School district until her retirement.
Evelyn was a long time member of the Cavalry Club. She was an avid golfer playing in both the nine and eighteen hole leagues. Evelyn was a proud member of the Hole-in- One Club.
She was a volunteer for Community General Hospital for many years following her retirement. Evelyn enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, gardening, knitting, quilting and traveling.
She is predeceased by her husband John Fix in 1995 and her son John D. Fix in 1992.
Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Susan (David) Lester, Mary Ellen Fix, Deborah (Jack) LoSecco; son, Frederick Fix; grandchildren, Craig, Sarah and Matthew Lester, David, Daniel and Peter Fix, Nicholas Ropp, Katherine, John and Thomas LoSecco; many great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank the staff at Menorah Park for their loving care for the past four years, especially Rocky and Cindy.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-5p.m. at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St. Fayetteville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, 4112 East Genesee St., DeWitt, NY 13214. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
