Obituary

George F. Collis, 100, of Fayetteville died peacefully at home with his family. He was born in Jersey City, NJ and graduated from Athens College in Athens, Greece. He served in the Coast Guard during WWII and acted as a Naval interpreter. He was the Central New York sales representative for P. Pascal Coffee Company for over 50 years.

George was a loving family man and dedicated his most recent years to caring for his wife, Theo. He was a member of St. Sophia’s Greek Orthodox Church and was active in the AHEPA.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Theo; two children, Frank P. Collis (Joann) and Thalia Collis (Victor Vallo); four grandchildren, Alexandra and Allison Vizgaitis, and Jackson and Annabeth Collis.

Private burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Oswego, NY.

Memorial contributions may be made to the AHEPA Scholarship Fund, sent to St. Sophia’s Greek Orthodox Church, 325 Waring Rd, Syracuse, NY 13224.

Thalia and family, please accept our condolences on the loss of your dad. We always enjoyed our visits with you and your dad when we occasionally met at Wegmans. He was such a nice man. You are so lucky to have had him in your life for so many years. You will miss him, but he will always be with you.
