Georgette Taliercio Lindsay, of Fayetteville, N.Y., passed away on Wednesday.
Georgette was born on September 16, 1928 in Philippeville, Algeria to Pasquale and Marie Taliercio. At 17 years old, she met the love of her life, her “Frankie”, when his ship docked in her home port during World War II. The two were inseparable ever since. They married on October 20, 1945 and spent the next 65 years enjoying a wonderful life together, first in Manlius, then settling in Fayetteville.
She was a devoted wife and mother, loving grandmother, and loyal and faithful friend. Georgette was a dedicated employee of General Electric, retiring after 43 years. She loved travelling to her favorite destination, the island of Barbados. She also enjoyed playing cards, dancing, cooking, and spending time with her family whom she loved dearly. She saw the best in people and always brought a sense of optimism into any conversation. There was nothing you could do but smile in her presence, especially when she proudly shared her French culture and language with you.
Georgette is survived by her children, Yvonne (David) Truman of Wilmington, N.C., Denise (Frank) Lazarski of Syracuse, Robert (Sheila) Lindsay of North Syracuse, Danielle (Donald) Veator of Manlius; her brothers, Jean (Hedy) Taliercio of Mount Olive, N.C., and Pierre (Lucienne) Taliercio of France; sisters-in-law, Suzanne and Sylvie Taliercio of France; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Francis Lindsay; son, Norman Lindsay; daughter- in-law, Brenda Lindsay; daughter, Jacqueline “Nada” Lindsay; grandson, Sean Truman; her parents, Pasquale and Marie Taliercio; sisters, Angela Taliercio and Rose (Francis) Scuotto; and brothers, Vincent and Yves Taliercio.
Family and friends may call on Monday, March 29 from 9:30 am – 10:30 am at the Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 East Genesee Street, Fayetteville, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 29 at St. Ann’s Church, 104 Academy St., Manlius, NY.
