Obituary for Gerald L. Hart

Gerald L. “Jerry” Hart of Weedsport passed away quietly at home with his wife by his side on January 12th.  Jerry was born in Syracuse and was a Korean War veteran.  He was an electrician with Local 43 for over 60 years.

Jerry had a passion for everything outdoors, including hunting, fishing, hang gliding, ultralight flying, experimental aircraft, and he developed and operated the Marina in Weedsport due to his love of boats.

He was a member of the American Legion, loved riding his motorcycle and was a member of the Patriot Guard to honor his fallen brothers and sisters.  Even when he wasn’t at his best he still tried to help with a goose hunt to support his wounded and disabled veteran families.

He was a master of all things; he enjoyed making things with stained glass and building furniture.  But mostly he enjoyed his family.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Gloria; daughters, Diane Morton and Denise (Mark) Sullivan; sons, Brett Hart and Patrick (Lisa) Hart; grandchildren, Jessica, Garrett, Ryan, Shane and Killian; great-grandchildren, Jack and Kayden; and brother, Donald (Jane) Hart.

Family and friends may call from 10:30 am to Noon on Wednesday, January 19th at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville.  The service will follow the calling hours.  Burial with military honors will be in Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Disabled Veterans Association.
