Joan Shaughnessy Walsh, 91, of Fayetteville, passed away on February 12, 2021 from heart failure. Joan loved raising her family, teaching children, singing in the church choir and shopping for antiques.
Joan was born in Bay Shore, NY. She graduated with the science award from Bay Shore High School. Joan met the love of her life, Thomas F. Walsh, while attending Cortland College. Joan taught second grade at Bridgeport Elementary School.
Joan was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Tom, in 2013. She is survived by son, Tom (Marianne) Walsh; three daughters, Pat (Bart) Lehmann, Sue (John) Mitten and Shauna (Jim) Watkins; eight grandchildren, Charity (Krishna) Patel, Vicki (Sigurd) Culhane, Hannah Walsh, Tom Walsh, Jessica Mitten, Margie Lehmann, Emily Mitten and Pearse Lehmann; great-grandchildren, Noelle Patel, Rohan Patel and Rory Culhane; sister, Mary Jane Beaulieu; brother-in-law, Jerry Thompson; and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be missed by friends and family alike.
There will be no calling hours. The funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, February 23rd at Immaculate Conception Church, 400 Salt Springs St., Fayetteville. The funeral mass may be accessed through a LiveStream broadcast accessible at https://icfayetteville.org/funerals/
Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
