Obituary for Joseph G. Rogers

Joseph G. Rogers, 88, of East Syracuse, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2019 with his loving family by his side.
Born in Brooklyn on December 15, 1930 he was the son of John and Margaret Rogers. He was a graduate of James Madison High School and Pratt Institute of Science and Technology. Joe served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a Professional Engineer working for several Architectural Engineering companies over the years before he started CM Rogers Company, retiring at the age of 78.
He was a life time member of ASHRAE, past member of the Town of DeWitt planning Board and the Dewitt Republican Committee, and past president of the Parent Teacher Association at Bishop Grimes High School .
Joe was very handy and liked to design and build many different things, especially for his family. He loved to travel with his wife Clara especially through New England, Aruba, Florida and Nevada.
Family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Carl Butch, Dr. James Longo and the staff at Crouse Hospital.
He is predeceased by parents; son Stephen Rogers; brother John Rogers; sisters, Marlene Howard and Mary Ferguson; and nephew Robert Ferguson.
Surviving is his loving wife of 63 years, Clara; children, Kimberly (John) Kiefl, Mark (Jenny), Kenneth and Andrew (Christine) Rogers; grandchildren, Jennifer (Edward), Lindsey, Nicholas, Sophia, Angela, Anastasia, Vincenzo; great grandchildren, Kayla, Maverick and Kingston; sister-in-law Alice Albany; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Friday, October 18 from 4 to 7pm at the R.H. Schepp & Sons Minoa Chapel, 6530 Schepp Corners Road, Minoa. A Memorial Mass will be Saturday, October 19 at 11am at St. Matthews Church, 229 West Yates St., East Syracuse. A private burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt.
