Josy was a dear and valued friend for countless years. Most of our social connections were based on the indestructible Dining Club, where Josy and Larry, Sam and I and 5 or so others met at each others' homes for monthly delectable dinners. Oh the stories we could tell.
I'll never forget you, Josy.

I have so many memories of Josy. I was in the graduate program in French Literature at SU in the early 90s, and she literally taught me how to be a teacher. I learned so much from her, and she was always so encouraging and supportive. She had such a passion for teaching, for reading, gardening, music, and so many other things that life has to offer. We had many talks in her office, about politics, cultures, family, food, and so many other things. She spoke often of her family and their accomplishments. I am just so stunned and saddened that she is no longer with us. I am so glad I had the chance to see her in recent months, when she gave me some books that she knew would be of interest to me. We had a lovely visit, and I had no idea that would be the last time I'd see her. The contributions she made to academia, her community, family, and friends are immeasurable and will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, dear friend.
