Obituary

.
Kevin M. Hanlon, 62, of Manlius died surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Kevin loved geography and the map of his life is filled with people and places that benefited from his presence. He inspired others to do and accomplish what they never thought possible.

Kevin embraced life. He loved people. His work ethic was unmatched, and he never quit when faced with a challenge. “No” to Kevin...was the beginning of “Yes.” Whether it be work, friendships, family or community, he willed the world to be a better place.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Denise Raab Hanlon; his children, Lilly, Mark and Ellrose; his mother, Jane D. Hanlon; brothers and sister, Tom (Carolyn) Hanlon, Bob (Colleen Terrell) Hanlon and Margaret (Rich) Ingraham; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his infant twins, Francis and Edward and his father, W. Donald Hanlon.

The funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 15 at Immaculate Conception Church, 400 Salt Springs St., Fayetteville. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Fayetteville.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Kevin’s name to the International Cancer Advocacy Network, askican.org

Kevin was a wonderful friend during our Brookside years, so long ago. Together we played golf (poorly), ran track (less poorly) and waltzed through school pretending to make light work of it. Laughing, prodding, and enjoying the good fortunes we shared with our families and peers. To all the Hanlons, please accept the condolences from the Daly family.

I am so sorry for your love! Kevin has so much compassion for others even strangers. As he was fighting his cancer he reached out to us. My friend had just been diagnosed with cancer and he helped us navigate thru this horrible disease. His strength, love and his determination gave us so much hope and guidance. He saved us as I am sure he has saved so many others that I am eternally grateful for this kind, loving man. My heart breaks for your loss:(. Sending love and prayers. Rest In Peace Kevin ❤️

To the family of Kevin,
Many years ago Kevin and I worked together as sales managers in an office equipment company in Syracuse. I had just left a teaching career and was somewhat concerned I had made the right career change. I believe Kevin had just graduated college and hit the ground running. His energy, knowledge, positive outlook on the world and sense of humor was infectious. We learned a lot about sales philosophy , human nature and made a lot of friends. It gave me confidence I had made the right choice. Over the years I would periodically talk with Kevin and that positive attitude, sense of humor and ability to influence never went away. I was very sad to hear of his passing and you have my most sincere condolences. May he rest in peace. James M. Williams

Denise and Children - What a beautiful Mass and service for Kevin that was held on Monday. Certainly, Kevin's presence was felt as his life celebration was shared with the hundreds of people he touched. Kevin was laughing as Michael gave his tribute that really captured Kevin's true essence. Lily, you were amazing and everyone could feel your deep admiration and love as he was there beside you just beaming with pride. Margaret - thank you for sharing your brother's journey and deep gratitude to so many who kept him in their care and prayers. Closing with the song, "Bring Him Home" brought tears to many though we know that Kevin is truly home with the Lord and is forever eternally in our hearts. God bless you for sharing Kevin with family and friends all of these years.
