Obituary for Lauretta May Koch

Deeply loved daughter, sister, wife, friend, cousin, and aunt Lauretta (Hofmann) Koch left this world while sleeping and flew into the arms of her savior Jesus on Monday, January 27, 2020.

Lauretta was born on July 13, 1961 in Syracuse to Robert and Barbara (Reap) Hofmann, the eldest of five daughters. She was a graduate of East Syracuse-Minoa High School and Powelson Business Institute and was married to her best friend Jay Robert Koch on September 7, 1984. She enjoyed a very fulfilling career as an administrative specialist in the hospitality industry and as an executive secretary, then administrator, for 25 years at Believers Chapel in Cicero.

Her family paid tribute to her: “The most beautiful soul and kindest heart with a huge heap of crazy fun mixed in, Lauretta was the best aunt Tia with a heart of gold, initiator of shenanigans, friend of the forgotten, serial kidnapper of nieces & nephews, nominee for the "woman of valor" award, party animal, beach bum, lifetime Dallas Cowboys fan, avid golfer, served three pastors full time, always too busy to cook, gift giver in secret, people lover, wept for others, #1 fan of Jay dude, nicknamed everyone, oldest sister, the person you wanted on your team, teller of many embellished and entertaining stories, humble yet bold, and lover of her Savior.”

Her beautiful life will be cherished by all those she left behind—her loving husband, Jay, her parents, Bob and Barb, her sisters and their husbands, Mary and Paul Ward, Therese and Bryan Withey, Julianne and Jon Nappa, Claire and Phil Harshberger, her brother-in-law, Larry Koch, and his wife, Marie, her sister-in-law, Connie Koch, her many nieces and nephews and their new little ones. She was predeceased by her loving mother-in-law and father-in-law, Larry (her Buddy) and Carol Koch.

A memorial service to celebrate Lauretta’s life that was scheduled for Saturday, April 4, 2020 at Believers Chapel has been postponed due to current health concerns.
