Obituary for Lawrence Vincent "Dick" Dorazio

     Lawrence “Dick” Dorazio, 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 15, 2023. 

     Dick was born in Syracuse and grew up in Jamesville and he graduated from JD High School, Class of 1960.   After high school he went on to work for 27 years at Allied Chemical at Jamesville Quarry; for 25 of those years, he was vice president of the United Steel Workers of America, Local 12660.  He was also a clam opener for 40 years at Jamesville Grove. Finally, he worked at Crucible Steel, Salisbury Fire Rescue Inc, and Lamson Corporation, during which time he served as the president of the union. Most of all he enjoyed working alongside Pop as a stone mason.

     Outside of work he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping at his second home in Brennan’s Beach, and watching the “New York Football Giants”.  In the last three years of his life, he enjoyed watching the eagles, swans and wildlife outside of his home in Baldwinsville. Most of all he was proud of his grandchildren. He will always be remembered for his ability to make everyone laugh.

     Dick was predeceased by his parents, Loreto and Carolina Martini Dorazio; siblings, Shirley Rice and Phyllis Wright; cousin and friend, David Martini; and devoted dog, Bella.

     Surviving are his wife and caretaker, Dawn; his children, Tony (Amy) and Louie (Karen); grandchildren, Mary Rose, Louie II, and Katherine; and stepsons, Kenny Jerome, Robert (Andrea) Jerome, Jeff (Bill) Jerome, Brad (Barb) Jerome. He is also survived by caretakers and sister-in-law, Mary Van Deusen and Skippy; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

     Friends and family may call from 2 pm-6 pm on Monday, February 20 at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 East Genesee Street, Fayetteville.  A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Tuesday, February 21 at Our Lady of Hope, 4845 South Salina Street, Syracuse. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
