Obituary for M. Suzanne Rank

M. Suzanne Butler Rank, affectionately known as ‘Shiny’, went peacefully to heaven on June 3rd, surrounded by her loving family.
Shiny was a graduate of Minoa High School. She married Robert Rank, also from Minoa, in 1957. She enjoyed many years of bus driving for the ESM school district. In her retirement, she was a devoted and loving dogsitter. She cherished the friendship of all her dog and cat families through the years.
Shiny was best known for her infinite love and kindness. Her love was pure and present. Her laughter and smiles filled every space she was in. She was the best cheerleader you could have. According to her grandchildren ‘EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE A SHINY!’
Shiny was predeceased by her beloved parents, Virginia and Hugh Butler; her brothers, Donald and Francis; her infant son, Joseph; and her loving companion, Jerry Carhart.
She is survived by her brothers, Walt (Mary) Butler, Henry (Mary) Butler; and her sister, Nancy (Bernard) Costello. She is also survived by her daughters, Juleen Rank (Jeff), Virginia Wood (Andrew), and Nancy Towne; her beloved grandchildren, Elizabeth and Sean Towne, Sarah and Christopher Wood, Cory and Kali Scanlon; and many nieces and nephews who she adored.
The family would like to thank the extraordinary staff at Iroquois Nursing Home for loving our mom and so beautifully recognizing her ‘Shine’.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 pm on Friday, June 7th at R.H. Schepp & Son Minoa Chapel, 6530 Schepps Corners Road, Minoa. Mass will be at 11am on Saturday, June 8 at St. Mary’s Church, 401 N Main St, Minoa.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to Helping Hounds Rescue, Dewitt, NY, in mom’s honor.
