Obituary for Martin W. Hackett

On Saturday, October 17, 2020, Martin Hackett, loving husband and father of three children, passed away at the age of 89.

Martin was born on April 2, 1931 in Syracuse, NY to Martin and Helen Hackett. He served in the US Navy on board the USS Randolf during the Korean War. After military service he returned to his job at Gray Syracuse in Manlius, NY where he worked until retirement. While in the Navy he married Helen Tobias and they raised two sons, Jeff and Scott, and one daughter, Lori.

Martin was a faithful member of the Catholic church, a member and past president of the Lions Club, and a longtime member of Arrowhead Golf Course. He was always quick to engage in conversation with friends and strangers alike and was known and loved by many in the Central New York region where he lived for over 80 years.

Martin was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, and his sisters Thelma and Mary Rose. He is survived by his three children, Jeff, Scott, and Lori, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, October 23 at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 24 at the Immaculate Conception Church, 400 Salt Springs Street, Fayetteville.
