Obituary for Mary M. Mol

Mary Schuchard Mol, age 78, passed away peacefully at her home in Manlius on August 9, 2019, surrounded by her husband of 58 years and their 3 children. Having battled Multiple Sclerosis for several years before a recent diagnosis of cancer, Mary was unfailingly positive, often saying, “I focus on what I can do, not what I can’t.”

Mary was a beacon of faith and inspiration for all who knew her. She adored her family and loved her church and many friends. With her capacity for deep and compassionate listening, she helped countless persons through tough times, including all those she supported for 26 years as Program Coordinator for Contact Community Services. She was a constant reader and was sustained by her daily spiritual practices of personal contemplation and centering prayer.

Raised in Charlevoix, Michigan, Mary is survived by her husband, Bob, who she met in Kindergarten. She is also survived by 3 children, Colleen, Rob (Kay) and Dan (Jean); 7 grandchildren, Meghan, Mary, Sean, Ellyn, Olivia, Kylie, Daniel; 2 great grandchildren, Ellery and Hudson; her brother and sister-in-law, David and Linda Schuchard; her sisters-in-law, Nomie and Darlene Mol; many nieces and nephews, and countless friends.

Mary’s family is very thankful to so many friends who provided comfort, prayers, and support.

Family and friends may call from 4 – 7 pm on Friday, August 23rd, at the Newell-Fay Manlius Chapel. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 24th at 10 am at Trinity Episcopal Church in Fayetteville.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, 106 Chapel St., Fayetteville, NY 13066.
